Eagle Scout Project continues

July 27, 2009

Last week I wrote an article concerning La Crescenta Boy Scout Adam Fletcher’s Eagle Scout project. He was restored a long forgotten memorial of a Vietnam soldier Staff Sgt. David Demmon who had been reported Missing In Action. The plaque honoring the soldier was found at the base of tree in the parking lot of Verdugo Hills Hospital. No one at veteran organizations or the VHH knew the memorial’s background. Demmon was a resident of Santa Monica and it appeared his sister was from La Crescenta but nothing was confirmed. After the article ran I began receiving emails and phone calls with information on the memorial then last week I received a phone call from the Demmon’s sister. She still lives in La Crescenta but remarried so her name had changed. She contacted Adam and thanked him for his project. I want to thank everyone who contacted me especially Demmon’s sister. I hope to do a follow up article in the future.
