Even wine sales take a hit…
There is no question that we are in a recession. It seems like the majority of the stories I write have at least some reference to the struggling economy or California’s budget crisis (or the state’s water shortage, but that’s a whole other issue).
But one thing that I thought was escaping the brunt was alcohol sales.
So I was surprised to read in the NY Times on Tuesday that California wineries are feeling the pinch.
According to the column by Eric Asimov, sales of bottles that cost more than $15 have become quite sluggish.
Maybe even more people are turning to legendary deals like Trader Joes’ “two buck Chuck.”
But anyway, the article is interesting, so check it out.
And yes, I know this has little to do with my Glendale City Hall beat. But this blog gives me a place to send your way other articles and information you might enjoy.
And who doesn’t enjoy reading about alcohol?
