Bicyclist news from the city
Councilwoman Laura Friedman, a vocal “green advocate,” had a bike rack installed in a City Council parking spot at City Hall so that she and other council members can use their bikes instead of cars.
“I hope that seeing a council person using a bike rack will inspire more people to bike to work or for day-to-day errands,” she said in a release on the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition’s Web site.
I wonder if she will bike in heels?
In other bicycle news, the city sent out a press release today requesting volunteers to count the number of pedestrians and cyclists at locations around the city in September.
As part of the PLACE Grant: Safe & Healthy Streets project, the count will help the LA County Bicycle Coalition and the city to determine how many people walk or ride bikes in Glendale and where, according to the release.
Volunteers are needed on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 (7:00 to 9:00 am and 5:00 – 7:00 pm), and Saturday, September 19, 2009 (10:00 am to 12:00 noon).
