First fatal car crash of ’09
A 53-year-old Los Angeles man died when his Toyota pick-up truck was struck by another larger “box” truck, about 25-feet long. It is the first fatal car crash in Glendale in 2009, police said.
The crash happened at 4:00 p.m. Sept. 18 at intersection of Victory Boulevard and Western Avenue. An on-going investigation by Glendale police has indicated alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the collision.
The driver of the larger “box” truck ran a red light when it struck the Toyota, police said. The driver of the “box” truck was uninjured, but the driver of the Toyota, whom police have not yet identified, was taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Late update: The driver may face charges if he is declared at fault, police said.
