Fire alarms at Roosevelt Middle School
Around 10:40 a.m., Glendale firefighters responded to a tripped fire alarm at Roosevelt Middle School on Acacia Avenue between Glendale Avenue and Brand Boulevard.
It was a false alarm, Principal Lynn Marso said. Something in the cafeteria triggered a censor and the fire department arrived with four trucks and an ambulance within minutes.
“There was a minor problem in cafeteria,” she said. “No fire, no smoke. It just set off an alarm, which was good for awareness purposes.”
It was not a case of a prankster pulling an alarm, although that does happen, Marso said. What happened in the cafeteria is unclear, but Marso emphasized there was no smoke.
“I’m not sure exactly what happened but a central fire alarm was tripped,” she said. “And we had a very safe evacuation of students and staff.”
