City seeks volunteers to fill sandbags
City officials announced today that they are looking for volunteers to help fill sandbags this weekend as a part of the city’s efforts to prevent mudslides and floods in the hillsides damaged by the Station Fire.

The City of Glendale Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department is seeking volunteers to assist with filling sandbags in preparation for the inclement weather this winter. The event will be held at Dunsmore Park – lower parking lot, 4700 Dunsmore Ave., La Crescenta, on Saturday, October 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon. The sandbags will be distributed this winter to residents in the La Crescenta and Glenoaks Canyon areas.
Volunteers are asked to wear sturdy closed-toed shoes, bring sun block, and be prepared for physically demanding work. Shovels, gloves, water, and snacks will be provided.
