Mixing in some tax talk
State Sen. Carol Liu stopped by the Glendale Business Super Mixer on Tuesday and tipped attendees off to what they might soon see from the Legislature: changing tax laws.
A meeting room at Oakmont Country Club was full of chatter before Liu was introduced by event organizers, who resorted to a drastic maneuver to force the room into silence. They started reciting the pledge of allegiance. (And how can you keep talking when everyone around you breaks into the pledge of allegiance?)
Liu then took the podium, starting of by noting how organizers were able to bring a crowd to its knees. She then advised attendees to funnel any suggestions for tax changes or other potential work for the legislature to her district representative in Glendale, Talin Mangioglu.
The mixer was a good time and I got a chance to meet some progressive entrepreneurs and avid News-Press readers. If you were there and I didn’t get a chance to hear about what your business is doing, please drop me a line.
