The week’s all about fire prevention
The Glendale Fire Department has reminded residents to “Stay fire smart, don’t get burned,” which is this year’s message for fire prevention week from Oct. 4 to 10.
About 84% of fire deaths are caused by house fires, department officials said.
Here are some tips that the Fire Department provided to residents to remain safe.
- Never hold a child in your arms while preparing hot food over a stove or drinking a hot beverage.
- Be careful when using things that get hot such as curling irons, ovens, irons, space heaters and lamps.
- When using heating pads, use them for 15 to 20 minutes only. Don’t lay, sit or sleep with the pads.
